About Our Church

Thank you for visiting the Sword & Trowel Revival Fellowship! We are delighted you have decided to check out
our website, and we would like to invite you to learn more about our church.

Our History
The Sword & Trowel Revival Fellowship is an Independent, Evangelical, Bible Believing, Baptist Church,
dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a world that is lost and dying without Him.

Our church is a young church - chartered in June of 2020, while New York's Covid-19 restrictions on public worship were still in full effect. As government lock-downs and "executive orders" all across New York State banned the gathering of God's people to be able to meet for worship and to fellowship with one another, many churches were forced to close their doors, and many more people "fell away" from their faith - for, as the Bible says in Ezekiel 34:5,
"And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd".

In response to this, the Sword & Trowel Revival Fellowship was chartered. Preaching from out of his family home during the Coronavirus lock-down, our Pastor began posting church services on-line so that God's people still had a way to hear Word of God being taught, despite the government lock-downs banning public worship that were in place. Originally hosting services on-line only until Coronavirus restrictions were lifted; our Pastor and his family opened up the doors of their home to the public, inviting everyone to join their family for corporate worship from out of their home.

Continuing until this day, our church operates as a "house church" (Romans 16:5), while we await the direction of the Lord Jesus Christ for a more permanent church home.

The Spencer Family Home - site of where the Sword & Trowel Revival Fellowship currently meets with our local assembly, until the Lord gives us direction on where He would like us to make our permanent Church Home. Church services are conducted by the Spencer's in their home, and are recorded to be broadcast online via YouTube and other social media platforms. Although the Sword & Trowel Revival Fellowship originally started as an on-line church, visitors are more than welcome to join the Spencer's for worship in person, if they are in the Bath, NY area.
"Likewise greet the church that is in their house.." (Romans 16:5)
Who We Are

Our church was originally chartered as a "Non-Denominational Christian Church".
This was done primarily because the governing ministry that we were chartered through was Non-Denominational,
but also because many churches calling themselves "Baptist" (by name), have very many different styles of worship, different views of salvation, different translations or the Bible that they use, and widely differing "new" interpretations of what the Word of God says - even though they are not the traditionally held teachings of the church.

However, due to the majority of our beliefs aligning most closely with fundamental Baptist doctrines, we decided to change our denominational affiliation from "Non-Denominational" to "Independent Baptist" in 2024. Despite this change in our affiliation, our beliefs remain completely the same - and we have not compromised our stand on Scripture in any way, shape, or form, in order to become part of any type of Baptist association or convention. We are a completely Independent Baptist Church, and are not associated with the General Association of Regular Baptist (GARB) Churches, the American Baptist Convention, National Baptist Convention, Southern Baptist Convention, nor any other conferences or conventions that require us to adhere to something contrary to what we believe in order to become members of their organizations.

What We Believe
We believe in Salvation by Grace through Faith, through Repentance from sin, and belief in Jesus Christ (and His sacrificial death on the cross to pay for our sins) as our only means of salvation - placing our faith and trust in Him only as our
Lord and Savior.

We believe in Believer's Baptism (by immersion) after a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
We do not believe that (Water) Baptism is a requirement for salvation; but rather, an outward testimony of a believer's Faith in Jesus Christ, and the first work that a believer does in their Christian life, after receiving Christ into their heart.

We believe in a literal interpretation of the Word of God.

We believe in a literal Six-Day Creation of the entire Universe, and everything in it, approximately 6,000 years ago.

We believe that there are only TWO sexes (or genders), and that every person is assigned one of these genders
(under the providence of God) at birth.

We believe that marriage is between one (biologically born) male, and one (biologically born) female.

We believe in the Eternal Security of the believer.

We believe that the Bible contains the Word of God; that all of it is true without any mixture of error; and that God has preserved His Word for us today through the authoritative Hebrew and Aramaic Masoretic Text (Old Testament), and through the Greek Textus Receptus (New Testament).
We believe that the most accurate English translation of these texts can be found today in the "King James Version" of the Bible, and it is the only Bible that is used in our preaching and teaching.

We believe in the Continuation of the Spiritual Gifts mentioned in the Bible (often called "Continuationism"),
and that these gifts did not cease (often called "Cessationism") sometime after the New Testament was written,
or after the deaths of the Apostles.
Baptist churches that share this view are often considered to be "Bapticostal" (a blend of the words "Baptist" and "Pentecostal"), because they believe that the New Testament Gifts of the Spirit are still meant
for the day and age in which we live.
We do believe that the miraculous gifts (such as tongues, healing, etc.), described in the New Testament,
are still applicable and relevant for today, as long as they are exercised within Scriptural Guidelines.

We believe that the "Baptism of the Holy Ghost" (or Holy Spirit) is an event that takes place in each and every single believer's heart at the very moment of their salvation experience; and that at this moment,
a believer is Spiritually Baptized into the Family of God, along with all other believers
who have professed their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
We do not believe in a "Second (Spiritual) Baptism" that takes place at some point in time after salvation - and that this baptism is characterized by the supernatural ability of Speaking in Tongues.
(Although we do believe in Biblical Speaking in Tongues, we believe that this Gift is only One of the Nineteen Gifts of
the Spirit that are described in the new Testament, and that not every believer gets this one particular Spiritual Gift.)

Our Message

Our message is simple:

Evangelize:
Our main goal, first and foremost, is to fulfill the great commission of Mark 16:15: "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature".
We accomplish this two-fold: First - Through the efforts of our members (our "local assembly") reaching those around them within their spheres of influence - by sharing the Gospel with them, inviting them to church, and through other visitation or local ministry programs. Secondly - Through the use of our church's internet web-page, other social media sharing websites (i.e. YouTube), and various social media platforms.
The internet provides us a unique opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others in the world in a way never before available. Someone who is unable to attend our church services (for whatever reason) can now have an opportunity to be able to do so simply by joining us online. Additionally, the internet literally provides access for us to be able to share the Gospel message with people from all walks of life, and from all over the world - who (without the internet) we would never be able to reach - many of these people, perhaps, for the very first time. In fact, only about 15% of our followers online are from the United States, and some of our online followers are from countries where Christianity is outlawed - and their only means of participating in church is through our online platforms.

Revive:
The late evangelist Jack Parchman used to have the slogan, "Revival, Our One Need Today" - and for Born Again children of God, that is perhaps the most important thing they need if they have been saved for any length of time - to "Revive"
(or "bring back alive") the faith and walk a believer once had when they were newly saved.
Many Christians today are so beaten down with the worries, cares, and pleasures of this world, that they have almost completely fallen out of fellowship with God - and the faith and trust they once placed in Him is all but gone. Our goal is to "revive" the Spirit in the hearts of the believers who have been beaten down; and to rekindle that "fire" for the things of God that once burned deep in their soul.

Equip:
We believe that we are living in the very closing end of the last days - and that the Lord's return is literally imminent. As such, we believe that it is the duty of all Christians, everywhere, to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone they come in contact with - and to live their lives in such a way that when they share the Gospel with others, that people will listen. Our goal is to give people the "firm foundation" they need to be able to do that; to help them grow in knowledge and faith - and encourage and strengthen them on their journey.

Minister:
Our internet website offers several ways to be able to minister to those who would like to join our fellowship - from daily devotionals, and access to the Holy Bible online - to ways you can contact us with prayer requests, and fellowship with other members. We even have an online Christian home school co-op, where we endeavor to provide assistance and encouragement for those members who wish to provide a quality (Christian-based) education for their children at home - rather then subject them to the ideology of the liberal, socialist minded, public school system.

Come Join Us
We would like to cordially invite you to join us for worship, either in person (here in our home), or on the internet,
for one of our online church services. If you would like to check us out online - you can do so simply by following the links on our website (under the "ministries" tab at the top of this page).
You can also access some of our archived messages here on our website that have been saved in audio format.
Perhaps, if you are looking for a small local church where you would like to feel like you're "part of the family" - and
you have been unable to find a church home up until now - maybe you would consider joining us in our home
for a good ol' fashioned, Devil chasin', Hellfire burnin', Holy Ghost seeking, old timey preaching filled church service,
that will make you feel like you're able to "step back in time", and get away from the modern world in which we live -
and back to the old-fashioned Christian teaching and worship that spawned the Great Awakenings
and early Revivals in our country; as it did in the days of D.L. Moody, Billy Sunday, and Charles Finney.
